This is great - I've also found all kinds of evidence to be flaky. "Studies have shown...." does not have a single study cited 90% of the time. However, I think it's a mistake to dismiss goals because the study is myth. I started writing goals after reading Think and Grow Rich at age fourteen. I saw a 400% increase in what I got done of a long-term substantive nature by having yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily goals and reviewing the daily goals two or three times a day and taking action. I now use goals when I feel disorganized and going in circles and let go of them when I'm purposefully growing and enjoying my days. It's nice to know I can get 400% more done any time I want to and it's also nice to putter and meander without being a slave to the deity of efficient productivity.
