"Scars on the back are a swordsman's shame" takes a different meaning when it's Shiryu you're fighting, doesn't it? When Zoro said that the first time, he was speaking of his own shame at losing to Mihawk. But if (when) he fights Shiryu, it's gonna be Shiryu's shame at never being able to face his opponents head on, and relying on cheap tricks and ambush to fight.

You have now justified Shiryu’s existence to me. Having Zoro struggle with him and then need to develop better observation Haki in order to overcome that fight because, “If I can’t beat you there’s no chance in hell I’ll beat Mihawk, ” would be fantastic development for him. Especially if Mihawk is right there and pushes him to his very limits later on the same day during the war at Laugh Tale.

It's always funny to me how Zoro is a better gauge for future groups that the Strawhats will fight, simply because he always without fail fights swordsmen. As soon as a character pulls out a sword you just know for a fact that they'll fight Zoro, and hence the people near them will fight Luffy and other Strawhats. It's also why I'm still confident that if Luffy and Shanks' crews "fight" each other it will be something unconventional like a Davy Back fight, because aside from Shanks himself they don't actually have a dedicated sword fighter.

I just hope Luffy and maybe Sanji watch Zoro vs Mihawk. That way Luffy could see Zoro come full circle and Sanji too since watching Zoro chase his dream is one of the first things Sanji did in the series

If the Davy Back fight does happen with Shanks on Elbaph, I could see that be a natural tie-in for Cross Guild, as it gives Buggy a chance to compete evenly against Shanks and Luffy, while also being a great place for Zoro vs Mihawk

Now that Luffy and Zoro have their fights on the horizon, would you consider making a similar analysis for Sanji's upcoming fights too? It only makes sense haha

I'm surprised that there's no speculation about about Zorro potentially fighting Garling.

Also side note I've always felt like Zoros fight with mihawk would either be third or second to last. Simply because in my opinion I think it would be cool for there to be a period of time where he reigns as the strongest Swordsman and goes into other battles as such. Similar to Luffy not being King of the Pirates at the very end of the series but after finding the one piece he becomes king of the Pirates and then as king of the Pirates faces off against the the likes of Imu

To me it's pretty clear where Mihawk can slot perfectly:

Case A: cross guild goes to Elbaf to get the road Poneglyph or something similar and we end up with a Davy back/3 way battle with the straw hats, red hair pirates and cross guild
Case B: Road to Laugh tale, Cross guild appears as a surprise contender for the One Piece

Any final Zoro fight other than Mihawk would be lame. Nusjuro is never gonna surpass the anticipation and hype of Zoro vs Mihawk and the same goes for everybody else.

Would love Zoro and Sanji vs Beckman and Lucky Roo if we get a Davy Back fight. Beckman and Roo have both been so central to Shanks' crew since the beginning that it'd be a shame not to see them both take part, and it'd be a great callback to the original Foxy pirates fight where Zoro and Sanji first had to work together. It seems the last chance in the story to get a duo fight out of them with a reason that gets them to have to work together actively. Plus, if the Davy Back fight will be three rounds like last time with Foxy, that leaves room for a father son sniper battle and a clash of the captains as the final round still.

Something that could solve your timing issue for fighting Mihawk and the issue of not enough match ups in certain factions is the potential to see a battle royale between all four Yonko crews over one piece instead of a battle against just blackbeard. This would also likely set up Luffy to be there when/if Blackbeard kills Shanks.

I’d be very interested in a video of the remaining characters Sanji will fight. Particularly because he’s the strawhat who doesn’t even crave power to meet his goals. But we know they will escalate from the enemies he’s fought before. Because right now other than Kizaru I can’t really tell who he’d be matched with.

I think everything is pointing at Cross Guilt being a plot device to make Zoro have the most relevant fight in a short arc against them, his final duel with Mihawk will be the highlight and most important event in that particular story and even Luffy will be just watching him just as he did in Baratie.

I personally like the theory that mihawk was part of the red hair pirates and a three way clash will take place. I also like the theory of buggy being stronger than anyone expected

Kizaru going through a moral dilemma right now doesn't necessarily mean he will switch sides .... Actually i rather him have the moral dilemma but still follow the wrong path... People making some bad decision for a change... Every character doesn't need a redemption arc.

Crossguild could come in while the Strawhats fight the Blackbeard pirates. If they intercept while Luffy and Blackbeard have their showdown it would come down to Zoro to neutralize the biggest threat which is Mihawk. By winning those fights Luffy and Zoro would also both fulfill their dream together. The only problem with that is this would be right after Zoros fight with Shiryu which means he wouldnt be at full strengh.
Otherwise it would fit perfectly imo so maybe Oda somehow can make it work.

Can't forget, on top of the gigantification and everything else, all of the Seraphim are also just straight up cyborgs with laser beams, too.
