I try to capture the way im feeling into my art but its so hard to do. If ever im depressed i can barely pick up a pencil, but i try to draw at least one thing a day for the sake of drawing. Thank you for sharing your sketch book with us.

Your sketchbook is lovely. 😊 I struggled with even getting simple lines out with the art block I had...took so much effort to not rip pages up. Totally understand about trying to convey meaning and emotions into an art piece. I always think the finished artwork ends up looking too corny or too edgy compared hot when I just want to draw something pretty for no reason other than I like it. 😅

19:21 I do this digitally. I’ll trace a skeleton over the reference and use both the skeleton I’ve drawn and the original image as a reference to recreate the parts I want on my own off to the side. I think this is one of the few ways in which tracing can actually be beneficial. So yeah, good idea! And you’re certainly not the only one! 😄💕

Edited to add: if you don’t already, use a NP Blue or similarly light Colerase type pencil and a ruler to draw horizontal guides to help your placement! Or even graph paper with a red Colerase and use a light box later on.

Speaking of Colerase, if you like reds, Ticonderoga actually makes an erasable red that’s much better than Colerase IMO. I wish they’d make more colors!

Your sketchbook is beautiful! You did a lot of interesting experimentation, and I really liked your personal pieces. I keep meaning to sketch in my sketchbook, but really I just sketch on loose paper to get my ideas down for paintings and often times the sketches don’t look great lol 😋

I have missed you!!!

You and I have been having the same problems. A hard year, depression and art block. I think you did good with showing something pressing down on you.
