Evgenia Medvedeva (Евгения Медведева) - 2018 Autumn Classic - Free Skate

I'm still not convinced with Evgenia's interpretation of this music selection. They should have chosen a tango piece with more drama and flare to support her program. Shes been doing panto for her entire life. A few months is not enough time to develop enough flare to sell this music. I added a more dramatic tango piece and found the performance far less empty.

For everyone saying she is "ruined" because she got silver, how?? She's in the process of relearning her jumps, getting used to an actual good training environment, and getting programs that have so much potential. She did look extremely nervous here, but that's to be expected. She just switched coaches and knew everyone would scrutinize her. Honestly some people's expectations are way too high. You cannot just expect her (in the first comp of the season, and a b comp to boot) to have perfect edges, jumps, maturity, emotion, spins etc. She is human, and I think we should remember that. I thought she was quite fairly scored here, and did an amazing job!

This routine had a level of much needed maturity rather than the whole panto thing but it was lacking passion.. it just looked a bit like she was going through the motions..

Doesn’t feel like a tango at all... Don’t think she is mature enough for tango yet. TCC should’ve played safe in the FS IMO. Her SP is a good direction tho.

I was SHOOK when I saw the improvment on the jumps, specially the double axel. They look way better, and i find that impressive, considering the bad technique she has been taught from a young age.

Funny how some commenters here in YT, who in the past worshipped Medvedeva suddenly became haters when she changed to Brian Orser. Poor girl, getting a lot of flames from how she lost here (btw how is silver a loss?!) and that her career is over.

Guess I finally understand why previously Eteri had allowed her with the pantomimes and they gave her a storytelling program with exaggerated expressions because she doesn’t really has that artistry skating to the music. Sorry really the whole program was just blank. Give this music to Anna pogorilaya or Mai, they can produce it pretty well I guessed.

I think Brian once said that a skater needs 1, 5 a season or so to adjust to change the coach, and a first season is not the best. So hopefully we'll see something better.

First Tano's combo jump ok the others still helicopters. Gurl, just avoid them for the time being.
And did she try to actually kind of perform some Yuna's moves or it's just my imagination?

It's actually nice that finally her skating skill is reflecting her scoring system. My only problem is how come her spin got 3-4 GOE here? Her spin was awfully off the center without high speed. -.-

She now finds herself suddenly in the real world where dark russian forces are no longer there to inflate her scores. It is sad to see young athletes abused by corrupt systems; propped up to win undeserved medals one moment and left to fend for themselves the next when their use has been exhausted.

Can we also talk about the Improvement from the judges as well! Omg like finally some negative GOEs has been given to the poor jumps and mistakes. Honestly her skating was not connected to the music too so her PCS given was already very generous since everything was quite messed up & that 3F+3T combo looks like a 3F2T but judges still gave +3s GOES.... But I’m Glad the rightful gold medalist won in this event!
