Aftermarket.
Especially JL Audio.
Has DEEP, clean bass sound.
I've purchased used cars with Factory upgraded stereo systems, that ive completely replaced with aftermarket items.

No comparison in sound quality to aftermarket.

I did full speaker replacement and 4channel amp, dedicated sub and bass amp, and dsp all based on input from this channel. Really happy with the sound and outcome of the install. Thanks Mark for your know how and channel content over the years. I rediscovered my love of sound and car audio.

I purchased a Tacoma 3rd gen last year and opt’d out of the JBL system because I knew I was going aftermarket. That means I didn’t have any OEM amplifiers I had to integrate into or bypass. Plus buying the third gen means I can replace the head unit and get a nice clean signal from the start. Plus the JBL system was packaged with a $5k upgrade I didn’t have to choose. So there is $5k I can spend on doing things right!

I recently had a car declared a total write-off, , of which my dream stereo system was heavily and stealthily integrated into the car (& included in the value of the car on the Insurance Policy). As such I was not permitted (and unable) to uninstall the system in the holding yard post crash.... I reclaimed the purchasing value of the system but alas not the feeling, emotion and effort that went into creating that amazing sound system...

I put that same sub (JLA micro 8 wO the amp) into my wife's car - 2019 Subaru outback. It takes up minimal truck space and gets surprisingly deep and reasonably loud. It's AMAZING!

the range in vehicles that sound good by adding just a subwoofer is slowly shrinking. complicated factory audio outputs are starting to make integration much more expensive. BUT people are still slowly allowing themselves to pay the extra money needed for the proper parts and we're still doing our jobs :) i especially love it when i get some "high end" bmw or even a range rover that DOESNT have ANC or injected exhaust noise into the audio, and when you add a sub, it works as intended! thats not true for most GM, Ford, or Dodge though.... ANC is almost always a problem with usually a solution (easy or not).

Imo good aftermarket is always better that OEM.

Some factory systems are plenty for every day needs. But the thing to think about with an aftermarket sub & amp, or combo, is that it will take up space that you may not want to sacrifice. And in many cases they can actually overpower the rest of the factory system (because they are designed more efficiently and use better products), leading to difficulty with getting the entire system to work well together at all volumes and having to make constant adjustments. If you want something that integrates into the car and saves space like a JL stealth box, those are just as expensive as getting the upgraded sound system from the dealer, plus you need to pay to install those along with adding an external amp. Having someone custom fabricate an integrated sub & box can be costly as well.

A factory premium sound system + a aftermarket sub is the best. The bose i have with a aftermarket sub just js so good

The sub in my fender system sounds great. I’m good for a while and don’t want for an upgrade. It’s a used car and it came with Fender audio.

Hey dude, love the videos. I really appreciate your craftsmanship and attention to detail. I was wondering if you could make a video about how to choose speakers based on their Ts parameters as well as going over how different types of speaker construction impacts their sound signature ie. metal vs fabric tweeters and paper vs aluminum vs carbon vs ceramic woofer cones. I'm getting back into car audio after being out for awhile and the hardest thing has been trying to choose speakers without being able to sample how they sound...

You are assuming that the after market solution will be installed by a competent professional.
Factory will be the best the factory can install. Which may or may not be good. But you can test it before buying. It's balanced correctly, it's tuned correctly, it's insulated and dampened correctly. etc.
As for after market, who knows? Maybe you just throw it in the back and connect the wires and call it done. Which is not even close to good.

I have 2 cars with the best sound system from the manufacturer. Volvo with Harman Kardin and Chevy with bose. The volvo is the best sound system I've heard.
I also have been building systems since the 1990s. I have a custom install in my supra. Which is close to the vovlo. But the volvo, package I bought, polestar, only came with that option. So it wasn't really a question of do I want to do it myself. Same with the chevy, high country, only came with that sound system. I bought those packages mainly for the vehicle build not necessarily for the stereo. Even though I've since upgraded the head unit in the chevy.

Idk, do you just want it done or are you wanting to be particular in choosing a custom solution.

Great video, I have jl audio in my 2000 gmc sierra and I’m wanting to upgrade my wife’s 2012 Chevy equinox, I may run the c1 line in it to replace the pioneer system it has.

In my opinion JL Audio design and build the best subs ever. Having run everything from the W0 as a newbie teen to the W6 and W7 series I’ve heard the entire range. I even love their amps especially the original slash amps. Their components are very nice as well. I’ve never ran any of their DSP’s as I’ve been out of the car audio game for a while now unfortunately. Wished I could get back into it.

Make a informative video on installing a aftermarket system in Electric vehicles pros and cons and the benefits and the things to watch out for. Example a Tesla model 3 Standard range help people located the full range signal and where to tap power from the front of the 16v battery.

I've had one of those JL's for around 10 years. Pretty impressive unit. Is getting a little tired now.

I have a 2020 ford escape with the B&O system. Outside giving an additional speakers there was no really advantage. My aftermarket speakers still sound better
