The Arturia AstroLab makes Sound Design EASY (Demo & Review)

The Arturia AstroLab is a powerful new hardware keyboard and synthesizer that provides a wide array of sonic sculpting possibilities! Featuring sounds from Analog Lab, V Collection, and Pigments, the AstroLab makes sound design in the studio and on the stage easy! Seriously, whether you are a seasoned veteran or a complete beginner, the AstroLab makes it easy to achieve the synth sounds in your head.

Sweetwater was nice enough to send me the Arturia AstroLab to check out and I've been pretty blown away. The quality of the sounds and variety of presets and instrument types is inspiring! The artist presets are a ton of fun. The functionality of being able to program sounds in your favorite Arturia plug-ins and then simply load them into your keyboard to take with you to a session, rehearsal, or performance like an iPod is SO practical and cool. It's a beautiful keyboard that provides a variety of functionality for any musician.

Now, guitar is my primary instrument, but using the AstroLab kind of makes me want to be a keyboardist. And that just might be my favorite thing about the AstroLab: wether you're a pro keyboardist, a hobbyist, or like me, keyboard is your secondary instrument (or maybe more accurately, the thing you can play enough of to get by with the help of midi quantize lol) the AstroLab allows you to sort through sounds quickly, customize them, and start creating music! Oh, and let me circle back to those customization controls. Yes, there are only 8 knobs, but they are powerful! And can be set to adjust other parameters outside of their initial settings. It's a really intuitive system where even an intermediate sound designer like myself can really get creative with customization. Be sure to head over to Sweetwater to learn more, and let me know what you think in the comments, and always, like, comment, and subscribe!

Is the AstroLab the Quad Cortex of Keyboards? I don’t know, but I do know that these sounds, software, and functionality are awesome!

“Yes, I play keys!”You can play anything! You are so amazingly talented! That’s cool that you can massage the tones on the keyboard. Love the vintage sounds. Cool that it has EDM sounds. Love that Divine Glory! Love that the sounds from the computer can be imported too! Cool! ❤❤❤

I purchased a Polyend Play+ from Sweetwater. I use it as a drum machine. But it can make full, polished tracks. Good times!

I debate about getting a quad cortex, your video confirms to get one. I debate about getting a hx one to pair with the quad, your video confirms it. I debate on getting a Arturia, your video confirms it yet again Justin! Crazy timing Lol

I like the AstroLab. For the one who just wants to play presets (there's nothing wrong with that), it's a good way to take the V Collection out of the computer. The only thing that gives me pause is its price. Little steep for a VST machine to me. Still, for the right person, it could be valuaable.
