I always keep a pillow under my pillow in case a robber breaks in

Be aware of the man who crosses red lights and makes noise on Sunday for they are armed and dangerous with a pillow

to be honest most insults can be punished by law in germany

edit: they’re mostly technically punishable but mostly they won’t be brought to court and even if the case gets prosecuted it is very likely to just result in a fine

For clarification on the pillow:

If you use it to smother someone and they get hurt or die, it'll count as assault with a deadly weapon because you used the pillow as a weapon. A pillow fight is fine

I had a German student in a college class once and during a study group i held a sneeze in. He was horrified and gave me a lecture on all the internal damage i could cause holding a sneeze in. He walked with us home and my mom was outside screaming on her cellphone to family. He was visibly shaken by that too.

Im not surprised the Gunther only lasted one semester in America. Lol

For clarification: Drinking in trains in local transportation (Nahverkehr) is mostly prohibited by Deutsche Bahn since 2018. If you are in trains like ICE and IC its allowed.

One of my classmates blew his nose loudly and my Russian teacher yelled in a very strong Russian accent "ARE YOU ELEPHANT?! ARE YOU ELEPHANT????!!!!"

Something about the "pillow is a weapon legally, keep it in your bedroom" just cracks me up.

So really it comes down to the good ol' "make love, not war" in Germany lol

As an American, when I was in high school one of my close friends had moved here from Germany and she had a teen magazine that had nudity in it😂 I remember being so shocked! It was just an article about the human body and health, but still it shocked me so much, I didn't realize how prud we were in our culture until then lol, love the video, thank you for sharing and all your hard work, much luv from New Hampshire in the USA ❤😊

I enjoy your channel! Im from the USA and lived in SE Bavaria for 4 years. I loved it and also had a light hearted approach to differences .

My German friends needed order to their days. However, something they hated was standing in line (queing) for anything.!

Germans thought nothing of touching, leaning or shoving and being in your personal space waiting to purchase anything. I learned to turn around and tell even much older ladies to "get off of me!".
Normally, I'm not rude and especially respect my elders, but leaning on me from behind was just too strange for me .😅

I like the drinking in public thing. As long as you’re not getting shithoused and making an ass of yourself or getting violent, sit in the park and have a beer. Sounds like a pleasant afternoon!

As a German who's currently learning to drive, I'm very happy that other Verkehrsteilnehmer respect the Vertrauensgrundsatz. I live in a big city and it's very hard to keep track of all the traffic signs and vehicles and pedestrians so I'm happy that I can trust a green traffic light. Crossing the street at a red light when the street is not completely empty will save you hardly any time but it's dangerous, not only for yourself.
