I adore how much Moon believes in her. He's seen her perform before maybe twice, and yet, he immediately says this incredible, once-of-a-lifetime performance is only the beginning of her career in music. We stan a dad friend

As someone who has performed before... the way she handled that unexpected interruption and the technical issue of not having an amp for her guitar in front of a live audience was really impressive. Being alone on a stage when a critical part of your performance goes out is a really tough situation, and she recovered from it and reclaimed her audience like a champ.

I feel like Ash purposely asked Moon to announce that she's recently dumped by her boyfriend. Top that with the fact that she was wearing Becky's sunglasses, sang a song that she wrote on her own, which her ex thought she couldn't do, her performance is basically a big shout-out that she's moved on. Damn.

The split scene with Lance and Becky says a lot about Lance as a character. The message of the song is essentially "My ex may have hurt me, but I'm better off without him." Despite that, Lance instantly turns the TV back on as soon as Becky leaves because he doesn't want to miss a second of it. The music and Ash are just too good for him not to watch.

I just realized Ash was wearing the dress Buster Moon recommended her. She just ripped the bottom and wore a red jacket to fit her style. I think it symbolizes how she cares of what Buster said ☺️

I just realized: Ash didn’t have family or friends to support her. Nearly everyone else did. Maybe only Mike didn’t but he had that girl mouse. Ash got cheated on and had no one there to support her and she said screw it and gave everything, without anyone there. Idk it just struck me how she had no one backing her up or saying “i’m so proud” or “i love you”

Film trivia: The part where Ash finishes the song by sliding on the floor and slowly opening her eyes to look at the audience is a nod to the Back to the Future scene where Marty McFly finishes on his guitar and does the same exact motion to the audience, bet no one noticed that :)
