Antonio Guterres in Somalia: UN chief appeals for major international help

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appealed for “massive international support” for Somalia, which is facing the worst drought in decades.

During a joint news briefing with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on his visit to the country, Guterres told reporters in the capital Mogadishu on Tuesday that he was in Somalia “to ring the alarm” on the country’s need for significant international support.

It's that time of the year where UN, other ngos & international organisations appeal to their donors pretending they're going to help Somalis to fill their own pocket & give pocket change or pennies to Somalis. Somalia doesn't need UN or ngo aid. They need investment in their youth, farmers, fisheries, innovators, etc. I've seen so many Somali youth doing amazing work in the area of food security & independency, but you don't see any of these international organisations invest in those youth. Also, UN & other ngos do this dirty trick every time where they appeal to their donors just before harvesting season in Somalia so that they get their money & "aid" whether it is food or any other goods just around the time the farmers are planning to bring their harvest to sell it to the market, UN & other ngos bring dirt cheap food that's been in their donors warehouses for years if not decades to give it for "free" or at a dirt cheap price. Of course, the farmers can't compete against those "free" expired food & they get out of market. Kind of like how amazon sells things for dirt cheap to get rid of competitors so that when competitors can't compete & go bankrupt, amazon takes over that market & becomes a monopoly. This is what UN & other ngos do in Somalia. Also they give this 1 time use seeds to farmers in Somalia. Where you can only use the seed for 1 time for 1 specific vegetable or fruit, etc. But it destroys the soil & you can't grow anything there anymore, which in turn makes the farmer who was someone who's contributing to society become now also a begger. The next step they do to get rid of those farmers & next generation farmers for good is they give them a card where they send them like $100/month for the farmer to depend on them & not farm anymore & also not pass his farming skills to his kids, which makes next generation beggers as well. So many dirty tricks are the UN & other ngos using to keep countries like Somalia down. Majority of the money they receive from donors goes back to companies that those donor nations are from, don't get fooled that it reaches Somalia or Somalis. This guy & his like aren't helping Somalis out of the "kindness of their hearts" but to keep their ngo business going. I've lived in Somalia & I'm talking from experience what I saw with my own eyes. They also undermine the government. These ngos have become the government in some ways & can use their donor nations to plan an indirect coup if they don't like whichever president is in power. Pray for Somalia & countries like it to get rid of these ngo vultures. Somalis aren't beggers unlike what these ngos make you believe & creating that typical African child with fly & snot on his nose type of poster

The UN complicates the situation in Somalia, it has imposed arms embargo on the Somali National Army which is fighting Alshabab. And incouraging Somali farmer to depend on UN relief, especially now the rainy season.

The UN Tied to help in the early 1990s.
Somalia didn’t not want the help.

It’s been over 30 years and they have still not got their country in order.
So I’m confused as to what they expect the UN to do. When they are not willing to even help themselves.
