Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Blackpool Pleasure Beach are only a few of the UK theme parks that have planned, designed and almost began building NEW rollercoasters before they were scrapped and never thought of again. Today I list some of the UK's most amazing and crazy rollercoasters that were NEVER BUILT...

I remember there were once plans for "Nemesis 2" at Chessington (before Tussauds owned Thorpe Park). John Wardley said something like it would have had the biggest-ever pit for a coaster.

The Alton Towers cross-valley woodie looked absolutely incredible, although in hindsight damaging to the landscape. I'm half glad they didn't do it now I'm older, but at the time I couldn't wait! The Thorpe GCI, on the other hand, definitely looked better than Saw, as we already had a couple of Euro Fighters in the UK at the time.

SWINE at Southend (massive Arrow looper) was another one I wanted to ride, although they said they were going to charge £9 a go!

I always thought the Blackpool coaster was going to be an Intamin Reverse Freefall like Superman: the Escape, although I could be wrong as those marks on the ground definitely suggest something like Top Thrill Dragster. There used to be a rumour website called Thrillride (by Robert Coker), which had a "Whopper of the Week" segment... I'm ashamed to say that once three of us all sent in rumours that there was going to be an Intamin giga at Blackpool!

An Intamin Accelerator at Pleasure Beach would be absolutely amazing!! They certainly have the space, even if it means shuffling things around a little. It would work very well with their current demographic and put the park back into the top position in the UK... where it belongs. Recent years have seen a lot of negativity surrounding Pleasure beach, their advancement, modernization and adaptability... something like this would blast away some of those cobwebs and prove they're still in the game with the big boys.

It's great to hear that DigitalDan is using his platform to raise money for charity! Riding the Hero coaster at Flamingo Land all day is no small feat, and it's impressive that he's taking on such a challenge for a good cause. Supporting mental health charities like Mind is so important, especially after the difficult year we've all had. I hope that DigitalDan is successful in his fundraising efforts, and that he inspires others to give back in whatever way they can.

Fantasy Island original inverted coaster didn't happen due to planning permission for the height being denied.
