I think the reason Peter contained the Celestial gene is because human dna can easily be tampered with (i.e. Inhumans, mutants, Eternals, Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, etc). So his dna can be mixed with other things pretty easily.

Fun little detail I noticed too. The red mushroom like structure around Ego's seeds and growing around the Ego planet. Its called a red basket stinkhorn mushroom and they smell like literal death. Pretty cool to see that used in the film as under the surface is all death.

One of my personal favorite MCU films. It may be a little "slow" in the middle but it's all important stuff. The GotG films have so much more depth and nuance than people give them credit for, more than most of the rest of the MCU. Gunn is really a masterful director.
