The BEST knot for hand sewing with a needle #handsewing

Here is the best all around knot for hand sewing. You’ll want the knot to be thicker than the head of your needle, because the needle will poke a hole in the fabric, and if you’re knot is smaller than that hole, it’ll pull out at some point. You also want the knot to be thick enough that it won’t pull through the weave of the fabric. This tailors knot is a perfect knot for any hand sewing. #sewinghacks #sewingtutorial #sewingmadeeasy #handsewing #handsewingtutorial

This is an incredible video...I only hand sew, and I've been making double double double knots to make them big enough. I'll definitely try this method. Thanks for sharing ❤

I’ve been sewing for many years and would only use this messy kind of knot for a basting stitch that I would need to see the knot in order to remove it after sewing the actual seam (with a neat knot or tack). The two types of knots I use for a seam that will stay in the fabric is either a tack (make 2-3 very small stitches in the same place, leaving a short tail on the first stitch which is trimmed away after the thread is securely anchored) or a knot made like a French knot/bullion stitch, but just not made in the fabric.

OMG THANK YOU I have such a hard time making knots in my string, doing it three or more times sometimes just to try to make it larger than the head of my needle! This is gonna make hand sewing so much easier!!

A neater knot can be done by wrapping the thread 2 or 3 times around your finger, then put the the needle through that loop while it's on your finger. I use this when I'm using clear thread because the rolling part doesn't work with filament thread.

my grandmother taught me this when I was about 5 years old and until this moment I was somehow sure that every person in the world knows how to make this knot😅😅😅

That's gonna show off so much, you just need do make a loop with the small knot when you pass the needle the first time, like a finishing knot, but when you start

My grandma taught me this, but I tend to find it bulky. For most projects, I use a crochet trick and use a slip knot that I sew back through. I don’t use it all the time, and both have their uses depending on what you're sewing😊

What do I do about the giant fluff ball at the end of my projects?

OR you could wrap the end of the thread around the point of the needle 3 or 4 times. Hold the wraps firmly and pull the needle through the wraps and continue pulling the thread through the wraps till it form a knot which It will be bigger than the head of the needle.
