I'm a big fan of androgynous characters with deeper voices. I feel like when a character is androgynous we usually get a higher, "girly" voice.

I like the more deeper voice of the dub, it really emphasizes on the fact that testament doesnt have a certain gender, when its a feminine look and a feminine voice it doesnt really make sense. The female appearance with the towering tall stature and the kind of deep voice makes it perfect.

Mainly prefer sub just because it's Yu Kobayashi. and the casting makes even more sense when she has voiced both male and female characters before (Dan Kuso from Bakugan/ Lucina from Fire emblem). There was even a time where she voiced a male character crossdressing in an all female school (Maria from Mariaholic). She just fits the role.

I find it an interesting casting choice to have the English voice actress be a trans woman doing a masculine voice.

I won't lie, I'd like for there to be a mod where the voice cadences of JP Testament and EN Testament are swapped so we get feminine-sounding EN Testament and masculine-sounding JP Testament

They should’ve gave them a voice sort of like the angel of death from hell boy where the voice is neither just whatever your ear wants to hear but both are pretty good imo

I like both, but I tend to switch between the 3…. I feel like the Korean VAs don’t get as much love even tho they’re pretty good too!

love them both!! jp voice actress is so talented and has been in the industry for so long, but english voice actress is also so talented and has such a range! its crazy to hear her normal speaking voice and thinking how Shes the voice of testament with their deep, smooth, and calm voice, its amazing haha!! its also great that daisuke is supporting a trans woman and a newer voice actress, giving an oppurtunity for trans people in voicing their trans characters. not fo say that i love the english va because shes trans, i love her because she has a lovely voice that fits testament so well and is very talented! both vas are so talented, even if i personally prefer english, i find myself switching to japanese sonetimes aswell, both are amazing :]

Really have to go with Kayleigh here. Even ignoring what it does to my heart, the deep voice + andro/feminine appearance combination is so fucking cool from a character design perspective

Yu Kobayashi is amazing too obviously. Just like with Baiken, they're both really good.

Both versions and voice actresses do an amazing job, personally I prefer the English vo bc it adds a bit more personality. Kobayashis an absolute icon tho

Dub VA for testament is a trans woman (I believe) and she kills it here

J-dub has modulation to make it seem like multiple voices are speaking, as if this vessel was some separate person that Testament possessed. That nuance is kinda lost with the E-dub although it’s more fitting to Testament’s older design. Is that within character?
