Elon Musk recently warned of a recession that could come as soon as spring 2022. Almost every investor has been warning of an economic slowdown of some kind, but not many give a time frame as urgent as Elon’s latest prediction. In addition to raising interest rates, the Fed also plans to taper off on bond purchases. Starting from mid-January 2021, the Fed will slow down its bond purchases by $30 billion per month. By mid-March, Fed chair Jerome Powell estimates that the Fed will no longer be buying any bonds at all.

I bought Land and built a few homes, sold them and lived simple. Then I bought a fifty acre farm in Costa Rica with a view of four Islands, planted 6000 citrus trees. Sleep in my car and lived in my shed. Now 7 years later I have all the food I need and more and citrus to harvest all year. I need nothing and now I can built houses again. I go to the beach At least once a week and go to the beach or rivers to fish and play. My ex wife lives in one of the houses I built in the States and it takes her full retirement to live. I am not saying you can do what I did with very little money but it is possible to be independent and have freedom for some of the most stubborn of you!

The market is never a loser in a twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. When you are no longer accumulating but withdrawing its hard to be anything but cautious.

I think the economy is not as strong as we think overall, as every time there is some form of crisis they are enacting some form of stimulus. It's as fragile as the wind.

Simplest advice on protecting yourself in any financial situation is this.

Live simply. Avoid debt like the plague, and never live beyond your means. Learn a skill that will always keep you in work, and don't tie your assets up in the market. Build your house upon the rock, and through any crisis, it will not fall. Build it upon the sand, and it surely will.

Imagine if every US Citizen could "operate" as the US Government does? As a citizen, you'd be 'given' X amount dollars annually. You would then proceed to spend, give away and redistribute amount of dollars without recourse, accountability, or guilt... all the while demanding that you need more X.
