Mud not only works for sunblock but also bug block. Add either garlic or basil paste and oil into the clay soil to keep it on your skin longer.

1:55 About coffee: acorns are containing tannins, which are bad for your stomach. Always rinse them for a long time, or cook em in water, and change it till it is clear

Caves can be dangerous. Bear, bobcat, mountain lion, bigfoot, snakes, bats, air quality, rats you name it.

for BURNS there is no better medicine than the Aloe plant. Rub the gelatinous inner part over a burn. This will remove ALL pain from the burn and allow it to heal faster and better. Truly remarkable how well it works!!!. Aloe can be found in grocery stores and Asian food markets.

Duct tape also makes an excellent fire starter😮

15:53 unless you know what you’re doing when using indigenous cordage once the stuff gets wet it loosens and your raft becomes a pile of logs. Unless you have manufactured cordage it’s better to make a ginormous bundle, lash it with juniper root or plant vines then ride it native style kinda like a horse. Legs in the water. This isn’t a good idea in predatory waters. Generally speaking in survival situations it’s best to avoid unnecessary water hazards.

13:27 two of the easiest indigenous fish hooks to craft are from either thorny bushes (for a traditional hook, the thorn being the business end) or a piece of chipped bone for a gut hook. Gout hooks look like a tiny spindle with a divot carved around the middle circumference for a knot. The entire spiky spindle travels vertically down the fish’s throat then turns sideways. That’s how many natives caught all their fish in North America

Moss detection used for direction is usually erroneous.

An old man told me that pine sap on the hands works like work gloves protecting the hands against slivers and damage.

Vaseline is great for skin dryness including nasal care. Also as a fire 🔥 starter: rub on damp wood and it forces the moisture out than allows the lighting with a match.

Sand paper to ignite safety matches can work, but is not as reliable as the striking paper that coems with safety matches. Unlike strike-anywhere matches, safety match strike paper includes red phosphorus in the strike paper. The friction converts this to white phosphorus to help ignite the safety match.

Striking paper can be purchased separately so wjy bother with sand paper? Glue strike paper inside instead of sand paper or just switch to strike-anywhere matches.

Or, just carry a Bic, yank the child safety band off and use that.

Pine sap is the foundatuon of a great glue but the video kissed a lot. Don't let the sap boil or it'll become brittle. You also need to add a small amount of charcoal, or dry, pulverized droppings from a rabbit, rat, deer, etc. This stabilizes the glue. Don't add too much or the glue will get brittle.

The tips for finding dry fuel for a fire in the rain are beneficial for someone without a knife or axe/hatchet. If you have a cutting tool though, skip the search and split open branches to get to yhe dry inner wood.

The duct tape is 100% on target. We lived off the terrain with that and paracord. They did kiss cordage in the video. Get use to carrying 2 or more hanks of paracord at least 6' long. They're very handy in daily life too, not just for survival.

I won't use the "solar purification" method. Boil it. Evennif you only have a plastic bottle, you can still boil water. Tie a hanger to the bottle to hold it above and out of the flame. The water inside max's out at 212° so the plastic will be ok if you keep flame off if it.

Aloe in awesome for burns. But I have black thumb when it comes to growing plants. Yellow Mustard works too. Tin Foil makes a great protection for burnt skin. Growing up we would use News Paper layered between a blanket and the sleeping bag for Insulation.

Acorns should be leached before you use it. Has a lot of tannin in it

Pine sap? I got pine resin dermatitis and it spread all over my hands, blister and burning and itching it took a month to clear up and the medicine the doctor gave me didn't work. So pine sap my be a bad thing so be careful cuz it spread and that could be dangerous.

1:30 .. I’m kinda thinking that if I have a potato, I’m going to eat it..
I wouldn’t think any one potato can generate enough charge to power anything I’d really need THAT bad 🤔

If I HAVE a potato of all things, I will probably have quite a few other pieces of gear ..
.. if I’m traveling “light” and low on equipment, I’d probably have freeze dried food or something along those lines, not a heavy lump of an uncooked potato that will require a lot more fire/time/effort to cook..
🤷‍♀️

Used shotgun shells filled with strike matches, put one over the other filled with stick matches, then cover both shells in melted wax to seal out water, from rain, , to falling in water, the matches will stay dry, and usable especially when hypothermia is a big consideration, fire 🔥 is heat, and a life saver in cold weather or rainy conditions, fire 🔥 is key for surviving 👌

Interesting they don’t show exactly how much electricity is generated by the potato. It is because it is such a small amount it is worthless.

I always travel with my coffee- grinds, potatoes, wire, knives, oils, guns, compass, right😂 What if this stuff ain't at where you breakdown? In the middle of the winter, you ain't gonna find shit😂 Seriously, potatoes? I'll just call Uber, and have them bring me a fucking pizza and a ride home😂
