Aventurine’s release is closely approaching, and there’s so much going for his character that I felt NEEDED to be talked about! Aventurine is put into this unique situation where he’s a sustainer but also a damage dealer. But is this enough to make him match up with other sustainers that we have right now? Hoyo is a genius, they bait you with Acheron and then gave Aventurine good story line so people already used their funds and forced to top up

Aventurine truly is so good in the "current meta" as much as I hate the term, it's the best way to describe it. He's a great counter to the new Something Onto Death and Sam boss fights, and he fits right in in Ratio/Topaz/Jing Yuan follow up attack teams, and gives debuffs for Nihility teams, both of which are on the rise. And on top of that, Hunt/Erudition/Nihility all suffer from squishiness which Aventurine swiftly solves. And on top of that he deals great damage for a sustain. He wasn't lying when he said he never loses lol

I think Broken Keel deserves a mention since he gets free effect res and can proc it immediately, and the team-wide crit dmg boost from his ultimate just stacks the value.

I used to think that Gepard is good enough and you don't really need Aventurine if you have him, but one thing has changed my mind - Aventurine provides effect RES! That's huge, because it's a very important stat that prevents you from getting debuffed, but it's not a stat you'd want to look for on your relics for your damage dealers. And since Gepard can't cleanse, Aventurine giving an effect RES buff solves the issue, so you don't need a cleanser anymore

Its honestly amazing that aventurine fills up a need that fu xuan and huohuo doesn't fill at all. With fu xuan you get really good dmg mitigation and crit rate, huohuo gives you atk% and energy along side her really good healing (nearly on par with luocha imo) and now aventurine with his crit dmg and good uptime shields. Honestly with all 3 of them you should be set for any situation. Didnt really mention luocha because he's just REALLY easy healing and nothing else at e0 but hes more so the comfort pick of sustains because of how easy he is to play not to mention all of them have something to prevent cc (though huohuo and fu xuan are better imo because its guaranteed immunity)

I feel mentioning that putting him in the middle slots in your team party will benefit him and the team a lot more and his shield will be very strong so it will provide your team with more energy and charge the follow up attacks more often

I'm a sucker for the sustained characters in genshin impact and star rail. I'll always push these characters kit since they will always be mostly universal and viable in there kit

I hope he can become my first limited 5 star character. He's the reason why i started playing after all. Im really happy he's a cracked unit- I was gonna pull for him whether he was meta or not, but this is like a cherry on top ^^

Was gonna pull for Acheron, but after his story and getting to try him out for the majority of the patch, I'm gonna go for Aventurine.

Honestly, the only reason I want to roll for Aventurine is just so I have two fedora bros in my team. One is him, and the other is Harmony Trailblazer. Then we can finally go all Blues Brothers across Penacony.

I was a little sad that I missed out on Fu Xuan, but I'm pretty excited to get him. I can finally put my def main stat relics with good crit to good use.

One thing I've noticed is Aven doesn't work too well in dot teams (high spd team, shield runs out faster than aven can shield) and hypercarry teams with bronya (bronya adv forward "wastes" a turn for your dps's shield).

With that said though, he is definitely one of the more fun sustains releasing, wish everyone luck in pulling!
