Yeah but which one do you think will get you to the moon and back though lol

That CPU measure is an absurd understatement. Clock speed is only useful when comparing the performance of closely-related processors.

The fact that modern smartphone CPUs have features like low-latency caches, branch prediction, multiple cores, floating-point units, vector units, and operate using chunks of data which are 8 times larger… it's safe to say that the actual capabilities are far more than 100, 000 times greater.

Remember this was 1960's technology! The computers were the size of a giant refrigerator. And memory was stored on reels of magnetic tape! It's a wonder they worked at all. I still own my very first "Hard Drive". It's the size of a toaster oven and could only hold 20 megabytes of data. In the 1980's it cost me nearly $700.

But... it clearly felt there was a but...

It's also amazing to think that similarly lowly specced computers were also running the entire radar system that tracked planes in the sky and stopped them crashing into each other, kept track of bookings and passengers and fuel and repair schedules and everything else by required by the airports and aviation used.

Yes but that little computer in your pocket would not be able to reliably take you to the moon and back without suffering from an insane amount of bit-flipping caused by cosmic rays.

The AGCs were designed to be more robust against cosmic rays, not to mention that the physical size of the storage media and the voltages everything ran on.

but the Apollo computer wasn't loaded with crap trying to keep it from working...

I'm pretty sure this is misleading, because the guidance computer wasn't the only computer system involved with the whole operation. Still, the advancement of computers since the 1960s has been phenomenal, and it makes me wonder what kind of computers they're going to send Artemis with.

The Apollo guidabnce computer coutd restart/reset instantly and then continue executing code from the moment stopped. Try geting you mobile phone to do that. A pointless comparison.

So what i got from this is that our phones can already take us to the moon if we wanted, but the government is keeping that secret from us

At that time America wanted to demonstrate it's power to USSR, otherwise simultaneously ussr also wanted to demonstrate it's power to america..and so they began to do innovatives, new discoveries, new knowledges and e.t.this shows us up in tech.İnterner was made and used by that time as a mechanism which meant in order to use for a military porpose, as well.

Constructive criticism here. Love your videos. Check out your recent video “5 things from the James Webb telescope” or whatever it’s called. One thing. Could you please try to not do that super loud and sharp inhale between breaths? It’s loud and distracting. Thank you, you’re awesome.

The one thing that the Apollo moon program has, which my smart phone doesn’t have is a human brain capable of doing all the calculations. There were several people, mostly women, whose job it was to compute these vast formulas that were necessary to solve the problem of getting to the moon. My smart phone does not have a human who can do this.

So we should be able to go back, right?

It’s basically moot, they went with what they had.

What's the point of this video? It's a waste of time to produce it and to watch it. Shorts are crap.

But we apparently went to the moon in 1969 but can't in 2024 😂😂😂 it's all a hoax

I hardly trust my phone with directions and wouldn't trust it with my life like that.
