Pete's book The War on Warriors is such an eye opener about the military service. I have nothing but the upmost respect for him after reading his book.

The party of Teddy Kennedy, JFK, and Bill Clinton have zero standing to make any comments regarding this issue. The NYT was a staunch defender of those guys. Not happy with Hegseth's behavior but the question the party needs to determine whether he can carry out the duties being assigned and whether he is the best person to carry out that assignment.

I used to be a background investigator for the government after having served over 30 years in the Military. When we investigate and ultimately decide on a person's trustworthiness, we always look at mitigating circumstances. In Pete's case, when I look at his tours overseas to some of the most God-forsaken places on earth, alcohol abuse, marriage problems, infidelity almost assuredly were the by-product of what our elected leaders sent folks like him to do. And I'm sure Pete would not hide behind that as an excuse. The reality is that a majority of us have no idea what our military members deal with when deployed. And let's not forget the people that sent them to these awful locations and then question and judge their behavior when they come back to the States. It's despicable! Lastly, we are going to question Pete's character and abilities, yet forgo the actions of our current Sec Def. MIA for over a week due to surgery and was part of the Afghanistan withdraw that took the lives of 13 soldiers. Where are our elected leaders to force his resignation for very recent questionable behavior? Give me a break!

Nobody leaked the email from his mother. The pentagon asked NSA for his entire online history and sent it to the new york times in my opinion

I'd rather someone who came back from war got it out of his system and has changed his life. What's he been up to in the last few years that is what is important.

Not defending Pete's actions, but getting chastised by the same folks whose party leader just pardoned his son for a lot worse seems ironic to me. I'm hoping that Trump has the juice to get his candidates through.

Anyone remember the Patton quote about what soldiers who fight also do?

He is exactly who we need. He is a different man now. Other men in higher offices do much worse. Stick by him Meghan.

I am all for Pete Hegseth. He came back from war and had PTSD. If he hasn't had any problems in the past 5 years and nothing involves work, then I am with him.

As a combat vet, the problem is that he USED TO get drunk and go to strip joints???? Please, people need to grow up.

It amazes me that people judge these soldiers that come back from multiple combat tours and think that they’re going to seamlessly integrate back into society often times these patriots these veterans lives are changed permanently and their families often times this is nothing but a train wreck for the rest of their lives. I have personal experience. I find this muckraking despicable.

Politicians should have to go through an investigation of their past before being allowed to serve in the House or Senate. Let’s see how many of them could stand such scrutiny. Not to mention their conduct while in power. I’m not take any bets.

I am a woman. Pete has my vote and support. Leave him alone. This country needs him. Those who attac him are despicable

I'm personally all for recess appointments if the nominee isn't certified for strictly political reasons. Like Kash Patel is entirely qualified, if he is not certified then we need a recess appointment. Its up to judgment, but you can't have a whole machine against you and then acquiesce to every whim.
