This is great for abuser friendly build. I’m gonna make an extra image on a card with this. Recalbox went a long way from the previous version. Very clean.

Recal box has done a lot of really solid work and as far as retro gaming goes it is by far the easiest to get in place. Definitely user friendly for those who are new to the Rasp Pi/Odroid Retro gaming Platform. Awesome vids as always ETA!

This version actually performs better on the Pi Zero W than Retropie. I wanted to set up a zero for some really simple MAME games (PacMan, Burger Time, Galaga, etc.) and with Retropi, there was an annoying sound stutter on the games no matter the core, sd card, power supply, or overclock I tried. Frustrated, I gave Recalbox a try, and the MAME games are running flawlessly with perfect sound. I am really impressed with this version and will be using it more often in my builds!

Switched over from Retropie to Recalbox and haven’t looked back. There were so many hoops to jump with Retropie and I finally got fed up with it when it wouldn’t keep new controller binds. I was trying to switch off the SNES Buffalo controllers and make an arcade setup and the binds just WOULDN’T take.

Recalbox is SO MUCH more user friendly and while it isn’t as versatile, it’s certainly a smoother experience overall. Just wish it had the large community and support that Retropie has.

Hey Prime, great video. I just through this on my PSX Pi build which runs on a CRT... I hadn't used the build in a while (pi 3) but all my emulation seems super slow now. You suppose this is due to the updates? Would the pi 3 b+ work really any better?

Just discovered Recalbox myself. I usually use Retropie but fancied seeing if this was any good. Have to say, so far I prefer it. Really nice defaults, which I think is key, and plenty of under the hood stuff for the user to engage with if they wish. Things feel polished at the edges which is really nice coming from Retropie, which needs user intervention to add shine. For example music can be easily added without script tinkering, there's no flashing cursors at any time (I hate those!), there's some really lovely boot screens that don't need any change from the user end. It really is absolutely marvellous. Even scraping seems much quicker and less fussy.

Only downside at the moment is older Kodi installed (not that it matters to me really), and support for newer B+ is in development. However for everyone else I'd say please give it a go.

Recalbox is great! It's the only OS I use on my XU4. Plays everything pretty much!

I've optimized my retropie boot time a lot, still this relelase of recalbox boots up really faster.

I think I am really liking the recalbox, I installed it onto my spare 32gb sd card and was able to connect via ssh. I really do like that interface a lot better than retropie.

So on retropi you have the retroarch Menu, where you can mess with the resolution for playstation etc. does the game smoothing option take care of that? Oris there still a Retroarch menu?
