I discovered the comics thanks to the life action adaptation. Read the comics, it worth it. It's really really dark so I get it that, for audience purposes, Netflix chose a very different artistic direction. With this fairytale like side to the live action version, it's way more fitted and they really succeeded at doing a great show, considering how dark the comics are.

They really didn’t follow the comics at all through seasons one and two. It’s basically a spin off or they are just using the sweet tooth, comic world and directing their own version. Epic as hell though.
