I personally really enjoyed it, when I put it on I wasn't in the mood and didn't realize it would have so much music but I ended up unable to turn it off, the music is amazing and the performances are so raw.

Yes, this is a wonderful analysis and presentation by a sensitive essayist about a true masterpiece -- I hold this movie among the best this art-form has ever produced, among Abel Gance's Beethoven film, Pasolini's movie about Jesus, the "2001: A Space Odyssey", the Hungarian Fabry's "Korhinta", Riefenstahl's Olympia and some others. It is intriguing for me, though, why neither this critic nor all the others dare to examine the last -- unforgettable, otherworldly painful -- scene, where the lovers commit suicide as the only way to be together: above this planet, outside what life can offer humans born with with the triple curse of decency, talent and love....
