Dear Foreigner, when you show in the Philippines and try to start dating Filipinas your brain is going to play tricks on you. You think that Filipinas are begging to jump into long term relationships with foreigners and get married as soon as possible. And, if that's true then it must be true that if a Filipina asks how long you're staying in the Philippines the best answer to tell her is that you live here, or you're planning on staying here long term, or that you're going to be here for several months, or that you're renting a house or an apartment. You might think she's going to be turned on if use Tagalog words and you demonstrate to her how much you know about the Philippines. The reality is that nothing could be further from the truth.

I remember meeting a waitress in one of these Boracay restaurants in D-Mall. We did our thing. She wasn't about giving her contact details or even her Facebook. I searched for her on facebook as I at least knew her first name and I found out she had a partner and a kid. She just wanted to dip her toes in and have a short-time fling with a foreigner.

i am married to a Filipina for 2 years now
Why does Nanay not work? Why does Tatay not work? Why don't 2 kuyas and an ate work? A house of 6 people, 5 old enough to work, but NO ONE WORKS! Instead, they sleep all day, drink tanduay or watch TV.

I am sending them 50, 000 pesos a month right now. I know it's not much, but I have bills too. I work 12 hours a day monday to saturday. I EARN my money. I wish I could sit around and get paid for it!

I also sent them additional money at times when they said they needed to replace old or broken TV, stereo, electronics, etc

Then they say it's all not enough. I'm rude, stuck up, stingy, and all kinds of other bad things. As if I cheat on my wife and do drugs or something

Why are some people like this? Why don't they work for a living, instead of begging from others?

When others give, why don't you appreciate it? Why do you say it's not enough, and we are garbage for helping?

I'm not trying to make hate, I really want to understand. In our culture, this is very rude. Is there some reasoning for this?

I was at Clark Air Base for 4 years in late 80s. I saw Fil Am relationships crash and burn as you have described, mostly it was the families wanting too much. I disagree about shorter is better, it's best to have plenty of time to try to get the most honest and compatible person. Also, I did date a waitress and we even went to her workplace when she wasn't working, 50% off of everything, employee discount. We didn't need apps or bars, seemed like everyone was trying to introduce me to someone. I dated mostly Kapampangan women, seemed more compatible. Didn't get married to a Filipina, that's another long story. Your YT channel would have been helpful back then.

The problem begins when you don't look long and hard in the mirror, and assess yourself. Then, despite this lack of self awareness, you still think you can punch above your weight with a much younger or better looking Filipina. The problem is most guys can't punch, let alone punch above their weight. It's really not about the Filipinas at all; it's about you taking ownership of your physical and mental state, and picking a compatible woman.
