I wouldn't have a roommate if I had all that money.

Whether your belongings are from expensive stores or from a used store or a dollar store, no one has the right to steal someone else's belongings. It's just wrong. Now that person will pay for it.

Imagine owning $50, 000 in belongings as a student in college

Ppl saying “why bring all those things?” — that’s not the point. It’s theft and a crime.

Amazing how many people here are blaming the victim. That is her ‘normal’. Her criminology studying roommate should not have stolen even one thing from her. Even if the girl wasn’t wealthy and had mediocre possessions, that roommate would probably still have stolen from her. Stop throwing hate at people just because they have money.

Everyone blaming the victim based on the title.... it was only a few items - jewelry and two purses. Could have as well been gifts of sentimental value. Stealing is wrong. Be better

She could have half a million dollars worth of items in her room if she wants. You are not supposed to steal. Sheesh, don't be blaming the victim.

people actually validating this theft and siding with the thief is just out right crazy

What genius brings $50, 000 worth of bling to their college dorm?

So you basically messed your life up being greedy?

At my college the rich kids have their own home that their parents pay for. Houses up in the mountains not dorm rooms.

The real theft are the prices those companies are charging for "luxury" goods.
Such a waste of money on meaningless materialistic junk.

“Stealing from a roommate is rare” because very few college students have $50, 000 worth of stuff in their dorm room. That being said, she is the victim. The criminal is her roommate.

My roommate in college "borrowed" tons of my things daily. She never asked, she would just show up in school wearing all my clothes, jackets even my shoes! She returned them, hung them up as though they were her own clothes. As much as I asked her to ask me, she never did. It was insane. I never wanted to get her in trouble since she was really sweet otherwise but the daily "borrowing" of my things without asking was just bizarre.

Maybe I’m a bit old school, but why is she taking over $50, 000 of luxury designer merchandise to school when she is there to study??? If she is there to study, then why not live modestly like other students in the dorm??? And if she couldn’t bear to live like everyone else, then why didn’t her father rent her a luxury apartment for her luxury goods????
