This is a great video! I am a BBQ guy and I only do BBQ for catering at the moment. So the menu is pretty similar which makes pricing much easier. I would suggest that you also take into consideration that food prices change. Filet mignon today may not be the same price tomorrow. So depending on event, I would charge for that type. For instance, I charge for the number of proteins I am cooking and number of sides. Do they want me to set up a buffet or do they want me to serve the buffet? These are other consideration that should be made depending on the type of catering you are doing. Also, you are going to do an event and say to yourself "I should have charged more for this" and that's ok!

I charge by the hour, that includes shopping, prep, cooking, serving, cleaning, sometimes they want me to meet them so I see their kitchen, flatware, platers, etc (Charge for that time as well).
Separately they pay for groceries, I was wondering if I should charge some mark up on the groceries or just get reimbursed by the client.
