Trek Untold is celebrating their 50th episode and nearly a full year of shows, a big milestone for this podcast! What better way to celebrate this first anniversary than by talking with another Number One.

This week, Jonathan Frakes joins the show to tell some stories about playing William Riker in all seven seasons of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, as well as the four TNG movies, and appearances in “Star Trek: Picard” and “Lower Decks.” Frakes also directed many episodes of Trek shows and two of the movies, along with a huge list of other television shows.

Frakes tells some stories about specific TNG episodes like “The Outcast”, “Sub Rosa” and “The Offspring” (his directorial debut), tales about his action figures, and the secret origins behind a major part of Riker’s character. Plus, his philosophies on directing, working with Patrick Stewart in “Picard”, his on-screen relationship with Marina Sirtis, and which “Star Trek: Discovery” performer has been shadowing Frakes and will sit in the director’s chair in future episodes of the franchise. All this and more on the big 50th episode of Trek Untold!

Frakes was also on DS9 as his teleporter accident clone.

Matthew, congrats on 1 yr anniversary of this podcast project of yours. Love your Aunt Krisy. (He is my older Sister Barbara's son, & he has done a lot more with interviews, He did a documentary on my Late Uncle & his Great Hank's Artwork, in "Nothing Changes, Art for Hank's Sake"). I realized that am 14 months younger than Jonathan, he was born 8/19/52. mine is 10/19.

Frame Of Mind was the episode where Riker loses his mind. One of my favorite episodes

Wow! This one was really enjoyable. Thanks for such a great interview and I'm happy for you landing every person you have on here. Jonathan definitely seemed comfortable as he said, it showed, and I think you hit it off really well with him. I just subbed and look forward to watching more.

Frakes gets Imzadi... which is a wonderful book. This is completely true to his character. His orientation is Troi. This is more prevalent in 2023 than ever. Love the individual.

Robert Picardo's the Doctor is my all-time favorite character in Trek. But Number 1 is in the pantheon.

Had no idea that Jonathan Frakes had worked with Nana Visitors father and where William Riker’s walk came from.

Recent subscriber since you interviewed Will Wheaton (which was really touching). Love this interview with Johnathan Frakes !(who didn't have a crush on "#1"💖?) TNG was my entire teenage Saturday afternoon. Yep VCRs!! (lol!) Your style is a charming blend of raving-fan and thoughtful questions. Well done!🙌🏽
