So with sediment pretty much untouched over the years, why hasn't there been deposits built up over the hundreds or thousands of years undisturbed (erosion, earth quakes etc)? Some areas have stones higher than the water level when not flooded. So how long would these stones be left and how much would come from this? Seems the incas loved the gold so had it in plenty. Awesome technique nonetheless! I'm surprised it didn't catch on with the new west mining like california :o
