Hey Darwin. 2 years ago I “thought” I “might” like to get into hiking, mainly for the gear. 2 years later, after hiking in Moab, Teton, Glacier, and the Ouachita Trail, I’ve lost 60 lbs, and am trying to do my first 50 mile hike. This is in large part to you, your recommendations, and this channel. Thank you for all you do on here, and for the hiking community! Keep being awesome!

This is so exciting! My husband has lost 200 pounds! He’s retiring in December and plans to hike the AT in 2021, this would be an excellent beginning to his gear stash! He’s a HUGE fan of yours! Thanks Darwin On The Trail

Thanks for your generosity, Darwin! Glad you are doing well and greetings from about 180 miles south of you where it's MUCH hotter! I just had prostate cancer surgery and can't wait to get back out into the wild and get myself back in shape! They say time heals all wounds!

I'd like to be entered I just retired and am working to hike again. I mean once you've alphabetized the spice cabinet you've got to be outside

Darwin, thank you for your videos. I took up walking to prep for a kidney transplant surgery two years ago. Hiking became a way for me to get in shape and stay in shape. After kidney donation, hiking has been a way for me to remind others of the value of kidney transplantation and how “normal” life goes on for donor and recipient. I’d love some free gear, but help us get word out about kidney donation. Last year I completed the Grand Canyon R2R! Whoop!

If anything, the tent, I've just started getting into camping at 35, only went out once before the lock down, now it's a cold winter where I am, but I've been slowly been buying winter gear, New Zealand is now virus free, I've gone out twice for a weekend and still loving it, by the way I'm a hammock camper but I've been looking at tents, because the best thing about camping, I think is being able to adapt to the surroundings and conditions, and just being there. Thax, love the channel and keep up the work, still many more people that don't know how amazing it is.

Darwin I've been following your journey for roughly 2 years now and you put out such great content. Keep up the good work! You've inspired me to get into the ultralight game, as expensive as it may be. I could use some help on starting the accumulation of the new year I would need! Thanks for all you do.

Hi Darwin,
I’m a rock climber that hates the approaches, but after watching plenty of your videos and a few other channels I’ve been strongly considering giving proper hiking a try. I had hoped to start this spring, but we all know how that turned out. Most of my gear is of good quality, but not, ‘ultralight, ’ as I usually don’t have to go more than a few miles at a time. Hopefully I can get out on some trails by this fall and find a new appreciation for hiking! Keep up the great work!

Darwin, thanks for being such a great ambassador to our passion of backpacking. I even forgive you for not telling me about the three rattlers in Passage 18 when we met there last year. Fortunately you moved them off trail before I encountered them! That pack looks like a pretty good way to test a belt-less setup. I have been struggling with which 40L pack to get.

I appreciate your videos a ton! And I'm so glad to see that your outdoor evolution website is up and running! I've been awaiting this announcement for some time. I have learned SO MUCH from you over the past couple of years, and your videos have helped me learn what has worked for you and has helped me weigh how to decide if things are right for me! I'm a city kid who always wanted to learn how to through hike, and when I met my now life partner back in 2010, I felt safe enough to venture out and have some of the most challenging and exciting through hikes ever! Next year, we hope this virus thing is contained enough to do the JMT! I'm stoked! I have spent the better part of the past 2-3 years trying out some lighter gear on a budget, keeping what works, trading what doesn't, and this year, I am looking to make the switch on a lighter pack and cook system. Anyway, a long rambling note to say thank you for making this channel and for being so accessible in your videos. I don't post or comment much, but when good people do good things in this world, I now make it a point to say something, because we need more goodness more than ever. So keep evolving, my brother! <3

I would love that Lanshan UL 1, since I need a one person ultralite tent. I like how your a minimalist, nothing to be embarrassed about there. Whats embarrassing is to have things you don’t use, that have no sentimental value, that you will never use, and someone else could be using/ enjoying it. Unless your joy in life is “to collect, ” minimalism makes life so much easier. I will check out your online sale. Love that you will be donating to taking care of the trails! Your videos did inspire me to hike longer hikes, with all the information you share, its been so helpful in making important decisions on what gear I should search for. Im not new to hiking, but new to thru hiking, and longer backpacking trips. Thats one of goals I have, to spend time hiking around the country, and just explore. For a thru hike Im so far undecided on which hike I will try first. Im thinking the AT. Part of the reason is my first long hike of 26 miles was in Maine, and I still remember being 12, looking over at Katadhin, just wondering why we are not going to keep going to the next peak.

Hi Darwin, Although I live in the UK, you have really been an inspiration for me and many others to get out there on the trails. Your videos are so informative and non bias or judgmental which really helps to understand the backpacking world and types of gear to choose. Many thanks, for all your dedication to the backpacking community. would love to experience the Lanshan.
