here’s a fun story: I was making some bean soup for the first time and it took me 2 hours and then went over to blend it, used the wrong setting, and got splashed everywhere with recently simmering soup. only 1st degree burns and no scars but I’m still pissed :( the soup tasted like dust and my entire pantry is stained with crusty brown soup

Hi, professional fried food enjoyer here, worked in a fast food restaurant once.
What's happened here is they've put the oil to a really high temperature, thrown it in until golden, and pulled it out. The REASON your chicken takes 9 minutes to fry is because if you just blast the heat it will only cook the outside. This applies at home too, a piece of chicken half that size in crumb takes 9 minutes, that piece should take, 11-15 minutes? Especially because it's batter.
