2024 Financial Goals Update: Travel, House, Roth IRA (TRANSFER TUESDAY)

I'm back from vacation with some financial updates and a renewed sense of desire to succeed!

My 2024 financial goals include:
-- Maxing my Roth IRA ($7,000)
-- Saving for a house downpayment ($10,000)
-- Pay cash for all vacations!

TRANSFER TUESDAY:

I started the Transfer Tuesday movement to motivate myself on my debt free journey to make more progress and celebrate smaller wins throughout the month. Each week I commit to doing SOMETHING no matter how small to move me closer to reaching my financial goals. It started with $5 in a week and sometimes I'm doing $500 or even $5,000. It's truly about forward progress each week.

Transfer Tuesday is the day of the week where I share our financial moves to stay on track and motivate others too. Y’all are amazing and have made this series something that is so motivating to me beyond what I could have imagined!

Every single week I'm committed to working on these goals. Making consistent progress every week is helping us get closer to our big dreams.

Thank you for joining me on Transfer Tuesdays and on my debt free journey where I’ve paid off $43,000 in debt while also living life, saving and investing too. I've been investing in my Roth IRA and paying off debt for a while and it's super fun to be able to show you that it is possible to do both at the same time and hit debt payoff goals too.

You don't have to sacrifice your entire lifestyle and all other financial goals just to pay off debt, invest for the future, or reach financial independence!

Middle! Keep working towards those goals! I cashed flowed our wedding this year, got rid of PMI on my mortgage, and I’m planning on paying off my student loans next month. Next goal is to work on cash flowing a car.

Middle. Im using this half way point to start a no buy 6 months. After doing a huge declutter of my house, i literally want for nothing. No clothes, self care products, cleaning products, laundry products, and pantry items. Its so nice to be decluttered and also realize that i want for nothing!🎉

My big “money move” this week wasn’t savings related but paying for a year of a language learning app so I can learn Danish. I hope to be nearly fluent by the time I move in 4-6 years

We are cash flowing our vacation (our last one was mostly credit/ destination wedding) so i feel very proud we are putting the cash aside this time.

For Marriott, the free nights certificates are very hard to use and their cards are super expensive! I thought about getting a Marriott card, but have heard from other friends that the free night certificates expire so they never end up using them and it’s a waste. We have the Hilton card and it’s OK. I don’t love it over Marriott so can’t say it’s amazing. We’ve gotten some benefits when using it for days so if you plan on staying at Hilton a lot then it’s worth it. We’re at the stage now where our kids are older so we need more space hotels just too expensive. Maybe get an all around travel card. Happy to help if you need suggestions

I'm retired and did so at age 42 with about $1.1M for two people. We had an advisor from Morgan Stanley in our corner. Maxed 401k for many years and then saved additional in index funds in taxable account. Our rate of return has been around 10% percent per year in the taxable account over the last 10 years.

Matching my interests received in my savings account £25.46. Mary. Do you earn interest for this savings account? How often is it paid. I hope you are getting the additional passive income. Mine is paid monthly. Just curious 😊

Middle!! I prefer Marriott. I've had their Marriott Bonvoy Amex card for years & enjoy it. I prefer Westin & W Properties, but I like most of their hotels in general 🙂
