I was born and raised in LA and living 10 minutes away from Chavez Ravine listening to Vin Scully broadcast my Dodgers. His voice resonates as I remember Kirk Gibson hitting that game winning homerun against the A's. Leading up to that home run, Vin Scully explained and articulated the inability for Kirk Gibson to run due to his injury and the great odds against him and the Dodgers to win this ballgame. It was Vin Scully that helped make that moment so incredible because he perfectly narrated the almost impossible mountain that the Dodgers had to climb in order to beat the heavily favored A's. So as he was there announcing the Dodgers winning that game as Kirk Gibson was rounding the bases pumping his arms in victory, It truly felt like thee absolute impossible had just become reality. . We lost the greatest announcer in baseball ever. This loss is right up there with Chick Hearn's passing away for me as both a Lakers and Dodgers fan. There will never be another Vin Scully.

Growing up in Culver City Ca. Vin Scully was the voice of my childhood! Any Saturday or Sunday afternoon in our neighborhood in the middle of summer, neighbors would be outside washing their car or trimming hedges, you could hear the voice of VIN SCULLY telling stories and describing Dodger baseball and we all new life was good, baseball is good and our beloved Dodgers are good! I was 12 years old, and this morning I Hurt!!

Summer 1967: I'm standing on the front seat next to my father while he drives down the mountain from Lake Arrowhead to Palm Springs. The windows are down and Vin Scully is calling baseball on the car radio.❤ Vin Scully is forever the sound of baseball to me. ❤

This is one of the best, most perceptive tributes I've seen. Great job, and thank you.

4 generations of my family have listened to Vin. He’s definitely part of the family. I remember those transistors everybody brought to the games and his voice echoing the stadium. So blessed to have had him in my life

The “Mozart of Broadcasting”. I like that analogy very much. Rest well Mr. Scully. A grateful audience says thank-you.

Vin will always be a national treasure. I still get goosebumps listening to him call Dodger games. Never lost his fastball (no pun intended.)
