Nail Journal entry #77 ✨

In today's video I'm going to be trying a DIY liquid chrome hack I keep seeing by @_nail_art_house_ on Instagram. The creator has claimed that this is a "clean chrome powder process" and that it's "less messy" - so I had to give it a go. Hope you enjoy x

Thanks for doing a comparison and wear test. It’s so interesting how they lasted. The last time I used chrome powder I think I totally forgot to cap the free edge and holy moly, did it chip and wear away!

Always seemed like there was nothing particularly easier or cleaner doing the liquid way. It’s just yet another novelty nail product! Like you said; use the lid of the powder or better yet just used a pressed powder and there will be minimal mess anyway!

You’re talented 🙌🏾 What white surface do you use for filming? Your videos are so crisp and clean please do a tutorial on your set up ?

Just a nail tech who owns the real thing here, weighing in: I don't think the clear liquid is alcohol or similar mix/dehydrator, but primer that bonds the particles to the topcoat so it's not patchy when you sponge it. Definitely NOT meant for a naked finger to rub it in, it's a solid product if powders are not your thing.

I use and 💛 the chrome pens….you know, the ones that have the chrome in the lid and you just replace & twist the lid to get more product. They work perfectly and without the mess!

Am I the only one that doesn't find chrome powders that messy at all? Like the worst that can happen is it getting on your skin and I feel like the same thing happens with liquid and all it takes to prevent that is using very small amount and building it up if needed 🤔 Anyway I used a chrome palette with pressed chrome powders today, and it worked absolutely fine!
I also think these liquids are very overpriced because you're basically buying a very very small amount of powder dissolved in alcohol 😅 I would have found these way more interesting if they had a formula that prevents chipping, that's the thing I really struggle with the most when it comes to chrome!

If you use a black color underneath the chrome it won't be see through and it would be darker blue chrome chrome.

I have no clue how this nail tech is wearing.these gloves on one hand while doing her other hand. That is so much harder than it may look!
