Canon 90D vs GoPro Hero 8 vs Samsung Galaxy S10 - Best Vlogging Camera for YouTube in 2019?

Do you even need a DSLR to vlog, or will a smartphone or GoPro work? To find out, I pitted 3 of the newest cameras against each other:

- GoPro Hero 8 Black

- Canon 90D with 10-18mm lens

- Samsung Galaxy S10

All three cameras shot in 4K 30fps resolution, with whatever internal stabilization they offered (Hypersmooth 2 on the GoPro, Digital Image Stabilization on the Canon 90D, and Super Steady on the Galaxy S10). All cameras used internal sound, with the exception of the Canon 90D, which had a Rode VideoMicro. Take a look a the resulting test footage and tell me: which camera do you think performed the best?

* Also, please recognize that this was a handheld vlogging test. If you plan to stand behind the camera and film or photograph a subject, the Canon would likely perform a lot better since you could swap in more high-quality lenses.

In every Android smartphone you can film in flat profile with apps like Open Camera (and it is free). You can control everything manually and lock the exposure, focus or let it auto, disable stabilization, enable it, control de frames per second (i like the 24fps), change the aspect ratio, etc. For me the flexibility that a smartphone gives to me is the dealbraker. With a humble cheap Moto G5 you can make really good videos. With a really good video phone like a top tier Samsung Galaxy you can make professional grade videos, easily

You're hungry and want a hot pocket. The instructions say you can either microwave it for 1:30 or you can spend 20 minutes preheating the oven to 350 and place it in there for 28 minutes. Obviously, it will taste better in the oven... If you would've chose the oven, get the DSLR. If you choose the microwave, get the gopro or just use your phone.

Thank you! Thank you! I tried vlogging with my note8 with dji gimbal and it was so awesome unfortunately im too attached to my phone that I need it all the time. I bought the eos m50 but the stabilization is not as good as using with the gimbal, now Im considering the go pro!

Another super helpful video. For me, I paid close attention to the sound of the leaves crackling as you walked along. That helped get a better idea of the subtle background effects that might come across with each platform. I agree with your read on the GoPro stability aspect. Just has proved hard for me to beat it.
