There is / was one tiny glacier visible from my living room that might have disappeared this summer - it's hard to know as they get covered with the rocks they bring down. A larger one nearby has retreated at least 100m. There are markers in the valley showing where it was at various times and it retreated slowly until the 80s where it started to dramatically recede. I suspect it has receded in the last 5 years as much as the first half of the 20th Century.

I dont think people get that this %6 gives us more flooding and when the glaciers are gone, means these areas will not become a desert or just severely deprived of water. Water at levels that wont support the population that lived off the glaciers.

This kind of news just makes me feel even more helpless and voiceless than I already do. Nobody cares. Nobody is going to do anything about it - or the people mainly responsible for this problem. This is like a terminal cancer diagnosis by text message. How depressing.
