Best monster collecting games I played are Nexomon Extinction and Monster Sanctuary.

I played the demo on Xbox and the movement reminded me of Riveria the Promised Land. Something about this game just clicked for me and I really enjoyed it. Ordered it on Switch and looking forward to it.

Does it have a proper story mode? Or its just like random campaign battles like slay the spire?

lol outside of the combat, it's like the developers looked at every terrible jrpg, took notes and said "This is the game we must make!" Grid based, single room map structure, poor story design, ugly pixel art (I love pixel art, but this is just hard to look at, ) time based exploration, etc. The combat looks fun though, not enough for a purchase, unfortunately.
