Legendary rugby player Vince Karalius, who settled in the Isle of Man after retiring, died inDecember 2008, aged 76 years old.

Vince had started his professional career with St Helens in 1951, and played for Warrington, Widnes and England.

He was best-known in rugby circles as being one of the toughest forwards in the game, and earned the nickname “wild bull” by helping England beat Australia in 1958 despite a badly injured back.

After moving to the Isle of Man he maintained his passion for the sport by helping Manx youngsters train.
