Reed Sheppard Scouting Report | 2024 NBA Draft Breakdowns

Reed Sheppard put together an exceptional freshman season and became a legitimate lottery prospect with his high level shooting, passing feel and defensive event creation. He has big questions to answer in the type of creator he can be, especially being just 6'3, but his combo of impact & outlier stats make him a fairly safe bet to contribute.

He'd be perfect on Houston with Senguin as an offensive hub distributing the ball. Coming off screens, DHOs and constant motion to where he doesn't have to dribble the ball and keep the defense off balance like Curry. Running a PnP with Smith and PnR with Senguin would be deadly.

After watching this video, I'm a lot higher on him now....he's more athletic than I expected. Great shooter, plays hard, and looks to have a high basketball IQ. Hope the Rockets get him at 3.

As a rockets fan Reed is the perfect fit for our team he a great combo guard which means he can play well with Amen and Jalen on ball and off ball.

He could also play well with Sengun in the pick and roll.

But man taking him at 3 might be rich but if the rockets love him and he at the top of their board you go ahead and take him

His offensive game reminds me a lot of Klay, defensively not as much and that’s a work in progress. But his and Klay’s stroke and fluidity is very similar.

ime udoka and the rockets coaching staff would do wonders for his defense and making him the ultimate all around player with that deadly prime klay thompson like 3 point shot

If I was Orlando I would move up to get him. Trade some future picks to get him. He is specifically what they need. Him with Suggs in the backcourt would be awesome.

His defense reminds me a lot of the way Jeremy Lin played defense in the latter parts of his career. People don’t realize Lin actually led all guards in blocks per minute by a long shot. He was second amongst all guards in blocks total and blocks per game behind only John Wall despite being 6’3” with a 6’3” wingspan. Lin was a more physical than Reed though and a bit taller, but similarly deceptively athletic.

I would love to see him in Charlotte between LaMelo and Brandon Miller playing the JJ Reddick meet TJ McConnell type of role.

This is my favorite prospect in the draft, I'd love to see him in Charlotte that would be insane

Been comparing him to VanVleet. He needs the right situation to thrive.

Dude is a Mark Price clone. Which tbh probably makes him the best player in this draft

Think the Grizzlies would be a great fit too. Could come off the bench to replace Kennard, who I think he'll be better than. Then eventually ease into backup PG duties after Smart moves on.
He'd also get the development as a ball-handler/shot-creator. Bane has made a huge strides in those areas.

Honestly if you are playing with Amen, Sengun, and Jalen Green, you don't have to worry about shot creation. Just spot up in the corner and knock down open shots off of the penetrations and double teams.
