This video is the only one I found where this is explained clearly and simply. I am very grateful. In my opinion VIM is primitive and buggy, you can open your paths file with VS code and it will save it with sudo permissions too.

Hi Tony. I am not a programmer or Linux user but would like to install adb to enable an upcoming custom ROM flash and the LineageOS instruction is to add a script to the bash profile...using a Mac and have adb downloaded and unzipped.

Do I need to learn basic Linux to achieve this and If so a good beginning tutorial suggestion please.

When I get to the etc/paths step, i see the following :

mv: rename platform-tools to /etc/platform-tools: Directory not empty

What do you recommend?

hi. i realize you may not see this for a while but i figured i'd ask. When you are using vim to edit the path at 2:12, your screen says
" /usr/local/bin
/usr/bin
/bin
/usr/sbin
/sbin


and then you add "/etc/platform-tools" at the bottom.

At the same point in time, mine says
" /usr/local/bin
/System/Cyrptexes/App/usr/bin
/usr/bin
/bin
/usr/sbin
/sbin"

I'm assuming the reason ours look different is because of something to do with admin access/disc encryption (?). I did have to enter my password. Anyway I just want to make sure I don't need to add something higher level, since yours goes all the way to Library

I need to use fastboot too. At the end of this process, it will run adb, but not fastboot. How do I run fastboot?
