I've been shot twice and gone through an explosion. The explosive put me out of the military. The injuries from that blast have healed quite well over the last decade and my ability to walk is a miracle to say the least. But I still feel the pain of that first shot grazing my ankle to this very day. Odd, I always thought. The RPG I can barely feel, even remember fully; but the grazing wound from a stray round can still catch fire it feels.

I think it has to be because I was fully aware and awake for the bullet. While the explosion more or less knocked me out cold for a while whilst my friends got me on the truck and out of there. The other shot that hit me wasn't very bad. I caught it in the plate so all I got was *NASTY* bruise on my lower torso.

The pelvis/hip/sacrum is a location that holds your center of gravity. It’s a solid bone that’s attached to your back and lower extremity’s. Any movement causes extreme pain when damaged, let alone a bullet shattering it.

Accidentally shot my thumb off with a 9mm about 11 years ago & it felt like I spilled hot grease on my hand. Needless to say, I can only count to 9.5 on my hands.

The story reminds me of my husband's. He and a coworker were both shot, in a drive-by, meant for someone else, while at work. The coworker sustained minor injuries despite being hit twice. And was discharged 2 days later. My husband took 3 bullets and was in critical condition, on life support and in a coma for months. He's permantly disabled because of it too.

Luck of the draw I guess

"Sometimes injuries can ruin someone forever" is basically what was said and is more real than most people can fathom. Your whole life can change in the blink of an eye at any moment. Be thankful for what you have.

I felt the strength leave my body as I was watching this video, can’t believe it’s so easy to die but I probably would choose death over paralysis of my body

To be honest getting shot anywhere hurts like heck, but getting shot in a joint, could completely and utterly shatter it.

I got shot in the stomach while on deployment to Afghanistan. I can tell you, the pain and the long recovery, is almost unbearable. My body has never been the same since.

When I was a teen, I always begged my mum for a belly button piercing. She always refused. Couple years later when I was about 23, I got robbed at gunpoint and me being brave (or dumb) I tried to fight back, only to get shot point blank. Right in my belly button. Guess I got my wish lol. Belly button pierced. Literally.

The silver lining is that you can barely see the scar because it's in my belly button 🙃

I knew someone who was accidentally shot by a friend at age 17. The injury affected the 3rd to 4th cervical vertebrae and left them paralyzed from the top of the shoulders down. Towards the final years of their life, there was no quality left. The ultimate cause of death was complications from being shot 20 years earlier.

My buddy is ex UK army.
He survived a 7.62 shot to the head... He's totally fine mentally, just blind in one eye. The bullet came out near his ear. He now has a plate in his head. They found the bullet in the padding in his helmet, So he has the bullet.
After getting shot he stumbled and stood on a landmine which removed his leg almost up to the knee.
He has more issues with the leg.

The dude has the sickest sense of humour

The worst place to be shot in and survive is the frontal lobe. Frontal lobe damage can cause serious changes in someone's personality. Basically if the frontal lobe is damaged you won't even be the same person anymore if you survive it. Definitely the worst part of the brain to get shot.

My friend accidentally shot my other friend in the head right next to me. It hit him in his right eye and the bullet got lodged in his brain. We stopped the bleeding until the ambulance got there and they saved him, he was out of the hospital in two weeks and the only side effects I’ve noticed are he’s a little less mature it seems and doesn’t have the best decision making and of course losing an eye but, who knows how much of it is brain damage and how much of it is coping with the trauma of being shot in the head. He doesn’t remember much from when he got shot but he remembers the pain and just wanting to go to sleep and how he felt relaxed when he stopped talking to us and just started to let go. He was a trooper tho we kept talking to him and saying we loved him and he stayed up the whole time talking to us back and even telling us to hold his nose because the pressure relived the pain

I’ve never been shot (not many people here have) but I would think the armpit would freaking hurt. Lots of bone, glands and vessels. And nerves in the area. Also the bullet could even go right through the arm

My uncle was shot in the head in Iraq in 2003 and it took out his right eye and bits of skull in his brain but he ended up surviving and is still alive today
