Khalistan Movement in Punjab

There is a new leader emerging in the turf of Punjab- Amritpal Singh Sandhu. A few years ago, he was an unknown figure who was living in Dubai- today, he is calling for social and religious transformation of Punjab.
At the same time, he is also talking about Khalistan: a separate homeland for the Sikhs. His story sounds strikingly similar to a young leader who had emerged in the 1980s- Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. He had been calling for the transformation of Punjab and raising demands for Khalistan.
The worrisome thing is- last time, things ended in a very ugly manner.
Naturally, Indian leaders are worried - what does Amritpal Singh want? Why did he become so popular suddenly? And what does the future hold for Punjab?
These are the questions we ponder about in this video.

as a sikh who does not live in punjab, it is nerve wrecking and so scary how anything that goes on in punjab affects all of us over the country

As a punjab resident sikh, I believe that this coverage was thorough and comprehensive. I have never personally seen a non-punjabi/non-sikh person covering this part of history with such objectivity and without any bias whatsoever. Well done Mohak.

“No one will sleep empty stomach as long as there are Sikh people around” I’m a Hindu but my family has been very secular and i go to a gurudwara with my dad every Sunday… I have a very respectful and supportive feeling for Sikh people… I always respect Sikh people a lot, seeing this Khalistan moment really broke my heart..

Edit: to the people saying secularism kaha se aya, I go to hanuman mandir on Tuesdays, gurudwara on sundays, church twice a month. I really respect all religions from the bottom of my heart everyone has their own path but the destination is same❤ jai Shree ram (I’m 15 and I’m sorry if I said something I shouldn’t have, I’m still learning the ways of this world)

As a Punjabi myself, I never felt any such movements should take place. Our country is already very diverse but at the same time living together with all this diversity. I have respect for all people of my country and we should be living peacefully.

Dear Mohak, I have no words how good this video is. My dear fellow Indians, whoever watching this video I would like to request you that please dont make any biasness or develop any hardcore perspective. No body needs to be afraid of any state or people of a religion. Khalsa means pure, so is sikhism. I am a proud Indian, Proud sikh who feels independent in his country. I dont want a separate country. India is my only country and Punjab is my beautiful state. A person, A group of people cannot reflects a relision and a state. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat. Bole Sjo Nihaal, Sat Shri Akaal. Edit: The comments on this video itself tells the truth.

As a hindu, I always love Punjab and sikhs since my childhood...whenever I see them, love and respect comes out of my heart. I would feel really blessed if our nation will not divide. We have different languages, we have different culture, we have different food, we have different caste and religion but at the end we all are Indians and we should proud of that !!
Jai hind 🇮🇳

I'm a Punjabi Hindu and I never felt different from mine. Sikh brothers most of them are the nicest people you can find from peaceful gurudwara sahab ki bani to amazing food Punjab has it all but some of the sikhs who are from EWS are turning to pro khalisan in fact some of our low-ranking employees left our city went to Amritsar and joined amritpal please do not hate every Punjabi and every sikh due to some bad guys

I am a Sikh girl. I am not a supporter of Amritpal Singh Sandhu. All we want is peace and love in our state and in our nation too and among everyone.

In 2005, when I was around 19 years old, I got call letter from a company in Punjab. I was very young and never been so away from my hometown. I asked my father where will I live, what will I eat, my father replied “kisi bhi Gurudwara me chale jana, bhuka nhi soyega.”. From that onwards I have humongous love and respect for Sikh community. ❤
