If I remember correctly, you can eliminate some of the periodic slowdown that occurs during gameplay by increasing the PowerPC clock frequency for this game. Try setting it to 100, 120, or (if your system can handle it) 166, which is the actual frequency that the Step 2.x boards ran at. Use -ppc-frequency=166 on the command line or add PowerPCFrequency=166 to Config/Supermodel.ini.
