How to re:Invent 2023

If you are planning to attend AWS re:Invent for the first time this year, you’re in luck! A tip that I pass along is to find the 'Certification Lounge' if you hold an AWS certification. It is generally a good place to find somewhere to sit down, grab a power connection and get some stuff done, or just relax. They also will generally keep snacks drinks available. Generally a good oasis to hide at when needed.

When I was doing the VMware conference regularly, my wife became the 'Queen of swag'. I would get her an Expo pass through my business (we are a Learning Partner) and she would spend a couple of days just grabbing every piece of swag (junk) available. It got to the point where she would take at least one entirely empty suitcase to the conference just to fill w/swag. For her it was an adventure and it also made her extremely popular at her work...she is a teacher and would subsequently dump all of the swag/junk into the teachers lounge where they all went nuts for the free stuff. She was very popular!

I agree...skip the RePlay event...unless you love massive crowds, waiting for cold food and insanely loud and annoying music that will permanently impact your hearing. Plan ahead a book a show for yourself.
