German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Monday he had appointed the Federal Network Agency as a trustee for the German subsidiary of the Russia's Gazprom.

Habeck justified the move by citing unclear legal relationships and a breach of reporting regulations.

On April 1, Russian energy giant Gazprom announced that it was separating from its wholly owned subsidiary.

Gazprom Germania owns other companies in the German gas industry, including the gas supplier Wingas, the gas storage operator Astora and a minority stake in the gas transportation company Gascade.

So, Germany is nationalizing a company from Russia, a company that has no GAS. The energy crisis is still there, the prices of energy keep increasing well a inflation. Why did Germany inflict this wound on his citizens!

It's very interesting how different the comment section is depending on the media being followed. It varies from platform to platform.

I dunno why there are so many happy people there. dont you realise that you basically nulled all contracts? Gazprom already stopped gas supply today due to German actions. and you didn't find a solution to russian gas.

I wish DW would talk a little about the implications and reasoning of putting Gazprom Germania under trusteeship. Is this a measure temporarily aimed at preventing the sale of the company? Does it mean that Gazprom is trying to exit it's positions in Germany ahead of a potential nationalization of its assets?

Nobody wants to hear Germany's "outrage" or sympathy. Everybody wants actions from Germany and less talk.

The civilians in Donbass are currently being killed and have been killed over the past eight years by the government of Ukraine, its military and the Azov Battalion. Where's the outrage over that? The killing in Bucha is as bogus as the reported attack against the Babi Yar Monument, the death of the Snake Island Ukrainian troops, the bombing of Chernobyl by Russia and the killing of a woman in Mariupol reported to have been done in Kiev.

Germany needs to get rid of their use of gas. This is ridicullous.

These are difficult times, Germany should reconsider shutting down all its nuclear plants, even though this can still remain the long-term goal. The front-end costs are long paid for, giving them low-cost energy in the short term, lessening the impact of the coming emergency.

Sell off _all_ russian state and oligarch assets in Europe and send the proceeds to Ukraine then set up a permanent full embargo on Russia. And throw Hungary out of the EU while we're at it, I'm sick of this "playing both sides" nonsense, pick a side and stick with it.
