We really missed out on the Famicom versions of the Castlevania series. The sound chip in those carts added so much to the songs.

I remember getting stuck on the sunken city in castlevania 3 with Alucard for so long and this is the first stage I learned how to use turning into a bat because I absolutely needed it to get around the bone snakes.
Everytime I turned into a bat, I would sing along to this song but change all the lyrics to 'I am a spooky boy' but adding an extra spooky when the syllables didn't fit :P
Even when I hear this song in smash now the subconscious part of my brain is just like 'this is the spooky boy song playing rn'

I love the idea of a underwater clock tower where the gears in the clock are moved by water and water doesn’t impact the jumps of the character and the Medusa heads aren’t a huge pain because instead of causing the stone status instead they cause poison like most aquatic snakes have the ability to do

I love the pachinko version so much. So short yet it tried to be drastically different with the melody and that last part until the Smash version came.

This song makes me think of that level in Castlevania III where the boss breaks through the dam once his health is down by half, and you have to quickly make your way through the last couple screens & finish him off before you drown.
