Note: Marquess is the female form of the title. The male one is called Marquis (pronounced as Markí). The word Margrave is also used, but usually for German territories

My favorite is viscount. Sounds both classy and evil as heck.

Good video! Very informational! But I will say that you missed the sheriff, which actually does have medieval origins, primarily in England. But other than that, very well-made video! 👍

technically there have been three emperors in Europe for most of the time of modern period! The Czar of Russia, the Holy Roman Emperor and the Ottoman Sultan who also used the title of Roman Emperor, because these countries considered themselves heirs of the Romans and on one occasion Suleiman the Magnificent refused to call Charles V emperor, because he was the only emperor and called Charles only the King of Vienna and said that he was the equivalent of his vizier.

some famous examples:
Emperor= Russia Impire, Ottoman Impire, Holy Roman Impire
King=Kingdom of England, King of France, Kingdom of Poland
Grand Duke or Archduke=Lithuania and Austria
Duke=Normandy, Aquitaine, Prussia, Milan, Burgundy
Marquis= the most important Margraviate in history is the Margraviate of Bradenburg, his fusion with the Duchy of Prussia is the basis for the formation of the kingdom of Prussia and the German Empire
Count=Netherlands is the fusion of 7 small counts, which historically belonged to the Duke of Burgundy

I perfer this form for government to others. Namely due to the fact that the people in power had to train their whole lives for their roles before taking their seats of power.
