I think the real issue for America regarding spalding's analogy about how we understood how to fight WW1 and 2 with physical means and out-strategized and overpowered our opposition; is more around our elite class' ability to disperse the qualitative information in an UNDERSTANDABLE MANNER to the populus in a way that arms them for the fight and lets them prepare themselves. The biggest problem surrounding this in my view is our ability to OPTICALLY (in the marketing sense) express a non-partisan standpoint which will put horse blockers around this issue in the minds of the average American so the football match of politics doesn't slow us down as it has been for decades. We should've been spending TRILLIONs of this worthless fiat on naval development and funding high level interactive computer programming courses and employment positions since they started arming themselves over in the east; instead we've developed 'next gen' fighters which are clearly ahead of competition, yet won't translate the funding we plow into them into effectiveness in a warring state. (not to mention they've stolen most of our research and the playing field has been raised on all sides)
