Basically, it's not about winning or losing, or the trauma you can survive or move past. Accumulating smaller "despairs" is about tolerance. Smaller frustrations do eventually build into larger irritations, but you also come away having learned to endure more and allowing less to bother you as a result. E-drama, rain, etc are wholly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. The only reason to pay them any mind is to frustrate yourself.
