I see this video is a couple of years old; thanks for leaving it up! I recently got this pen in Amazon for $89, and I'm very happy with it.

I had one of those at least 20 years ago! I paid 110, 00€ in Berlin. It was almost the same as the one that you showed here, the only difference was. it had a metal piece on the top of the cap. I used it for ages, until somehow some parts inside broke, so I discarded it. I was very happy with it. Mine had a converter.

At this moment, a Waterman Expert II is my favorite fountain pen. Really good working pen, reliable, elegant.

Love the pen and so happy I came across your video. Ordered fine nib from Amazon. Thanks

Thank you very much for the review. I was looking for a new pen and was seriously considering the Edison Collier but you review made me remember how long my Graduate lasted, from junior high to college! I'll give this pen a go :) Here in France (Amazon) you can find this model from 80 to 110 euros depending on the model. I'm torn between the grey/gold and all black (black nib too)!

A beautiful pen, but way overpriced. I have a good as new Mk2 in a presentation box, purchased from a well-known auction site for £40 GBP. LAlthough it is pre-owned, you would hardly know it … writes as smooth as anyone could ever wish for. <M> nib has little or no bounce, but is far from dry or scratchy. Good advice regarding cartridges and converters … the terms ‘international’ standard and ‘universal’ can be misleading. For the pen shown not to come with a converter is nothing short of scandalous! I have a steadily growing collection of Watermans and love them all. Many thanks for the review. Subscribed.

I'm at the point where I've become more interested in snap cap pens; mainly because I don't like threads in my grip, and equally for the convenience. I found your review to be very helpful. One thing I would add would be the barrel diameter.

Enjoyed your review, I have heard wonderful comments about vintage Watermans, but not so much for the modern Watermans.

Liked your review. I have an Expert II. The finial is a piece of gold-plated metal. Unfortunately, years ago, I scratched it. I have stayed away from lacquered pens ever since.

I own several and really like modern Waterman pens. The Expert III is excellent all round; style, looks, the nib and even the price (I bought my lacquered black w/patterned chrome cap for $145). Mine came in a gift box, with the converter included, a cartridge, and a bottle of Serenity Blue. Modern Waterman pens are everything almost all Parker, Sheaffer and Cross pens are not nowadays: elegant, chic, dependable and pleasurable writers. And to me, mostly fairly priced. I just wish Waterman offered more nib options like stub, double broad.
Blake, if you have any experience with the other cool Waterman models, I wonder what you think of them; Carene, Hemisphere, Charleston, Perspective, Emblem, Exception .
And, of course, the old, discontinued Phileas is arguably a must-have and trumps modern popular ubiquities like Lamy Safari and the rest of them.

So this 3rd (the last) iteration of the Waterman Expert is made of lacquered brass (cap & body)?

Nice looking pen but it has a huge amount of competition in that price range. My only Waterman’s are two Philieas models that are great writers.
Anyway, Happy New Year Blake !!

Thanks for this video. I agree $200+ for this pen is too expensive.

After a couple of years I wanted to buy this FP but its price has always seemed little high and I chose to acquire a pair of Opus 88. About Waterman I must say that the Carene model is one of my favorites.
