I'm sure with the iPhone 16, Apple will figure out software pairing of the adhesive strips and individual screws.

Apple's repair policy is like a car manufacturer forcing you to buy tires from them or the car will disable power steering, windshield wipers and ABS

It never crossed my mind that a phone company will be praised for a "removable" rear glass, yet here we are.

Great video as always Hugh. You make the best videos which shows how unrepairable iPhones are. I watch your videos probably almost from the very beginning of your youtube channel. The level of production you have reached is great and what I like the most is how you have shifted from Apple positive person to full right to repair guy. Keep up with good work !

I love how they made the back glass removable but attached other components like the charging coil or the mic to it to make aftermarket parts more difficult to source and potentially remove some of the iPhone's functionality if you dare to use non original, aftermarket parts on your own phone. A flssh that is misbehaving or white noise from the mic could be some classy Apple shenanigans when it comes to changing the back glass. Except of course when you reuse the parts from the old back glass, which looks like a pain in the ass to do...

For Apple, right to repair means only Apple has the right to repair.

When I saw apple announce this was going to be the easiest apple phone to repair to date i thought "will see about that when Hugh Jefferys does a tear down" and that day has finally arrived :)

As soon as the iPhone 15 came out, I was waiting for your video of switching the parts. Always my favorite part! Amazing video!

Hi Hugh. I've watched a guy replacing wireless charging coil on Iphone 14pro. Somehow it was paired to the phone as well, where once replaced it prevented phone from saving any photos taken in the phone's gallery. The shutter worked but no phots were available in it's gallery...
So i'll guarantee it will be the same case, with getting rear glass replaced on iphone 15 pro... Have a great day 👍🏻

Completely unsurprising. Unless someone steps in, in order to specifically counter this, they'll do it again next time too. It's horrible, and clearly predatory

The only good thing about the fact that the big reparability issues with iPhones are basically just software based, is that if at some point apple decides to make them repairable (or more likely are forced to do it) it should work retroactively and not just with the newest version

One thing worth pointing out is that even though they changed to USB C the data transfer speed of the base and Plus models aren't any faster than lightning was, it's still USB 2 speeds of 480mbps. If you want proper modern USB 3.2 gen 2 speeds of up to 10gbps you'll have to buy the Pro and Pro Max model, however they still come with a USB 2 cable so you have to buy a new one if you actually want to use that speed

I think the reason apple realized the back had to be easier to remove is because especially with AppleCare it was costing so much for them to provide replacements to the back glass.

As a 14 Pro user with AppleCare+, it was kinda crazy to pay just $30 for a replacement back glass (they didn’t give me a new phone, and it came with a new battery replacement) given how much it would cost to do that myself (lots of time) or out of warranty (lots of money).

Apple's repair policy is like a car manufacturer forcing you to buy OEM windshield washer fluid or the car will disable the wipers, auto headlights/dimmer function, and the HVAC windshield vent selection.

I was thrilled when I saw they made the rear glass removable, however as it seems from durability tests of the new iPhones, it probably also caused the rear glass to become much more fragile and easy to break, which is pretty unfortunate and I'm not sure if it's worth it...

Thank you Mr. Jeffrey for all your efforts in showing everyone what Apple is doing in terms of changes to the phone, and the level of repairability of the iPhone 15.
Greetings,
Anthony...

I gave up on "smart" phones a few years ago and now have a £20 Nokia which stays at home more often than not, it has no camera, no apps, nothing. What did it for me, and I did fall into the trap and that's why I quit having one, is watching people in restaurants and bars paying more attention to their phones than the people they are with or having conversations interrupted by messages and having it waved in my face to see the latest picture, give them up, while you still can.

It STILL COMPLETELY BAFFLES ME 😦 about HOW MANY screws (and the various types/sizes etc), cables and thus connectors there are. It's just BEWILDERING how COMPLEX it is to get the phone down to a bare chassis! You look at other 'Slab' phones and there's generally HALF the amount of screws and ribbon cables/connectors lol 😏

Smartly naming the boards "B" "S". Good one, Hugh! 😂

Im glad you mentioned adhesive before closing the screen. Alot vids close the screen without talking about the water repellant seal around the screen.
