Bangladesh Turmoil: India Expresses Concern Over Safety of Minorities in Bangladesh

India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar said on Tuesday that India remains focused on the well-being of minorities in the violence-hit Bangladesh until law and order is restored there. He was addressing the Rajya Sabha on the ongoing political crisis in the neighbouring country. "We are also monitoring situation with regard to status of minorities. There are reports of initiatives by various groups and organisations to ensure their protection and well-being. We welcome that, but will naturally remain deeply concerned till law and order is visibly restored," he added. This statement comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a cabinet meeting to discuss the situation in Bangladesh. On the same day, Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted. Anti-quota protests in the country turned into a mass uprising against PM Hasina, which eventually led to the collapse of her government.

*Dear Friends in Bangladesh, *

*We are delighted to witness your freedom and achievements. However, we are concerned about the recent student unrest and its potential impact on Bangladesh's economy and democratic progress.*

*We urge you to consider the future of your nation carefully. It is crucial to select a capable and visionary Prime Minister who can lead Bangladesh towards prosperity. We recommend looking beyond community-based parties or groups like the BMP, and instead focus on choosing a leader based on their merits and vision for the country.*

*To the pro-student protesters: We encourage you to channel your passion into constructive political engagement. Remember, destruction is not a solution to the challenges you face.*

*As your friends from Russia, we stand in solidarity with you. May you find a peaceful path towards positive change and national development.*
