The Sinking Ship

This is the first version of a simple song with deeper meaning. Although not perfect, On the surface it's a song about a ship that is sinking, with a lifeboat that's come to rescue the sailors. The captain pretends that the evacuation is going smoothly, however to ensure his crew makes it onto the lifeboat, he has to stay on board, unbeknownst to them that he is still on the ship that is rapidly on its way down.

The deeper meaning is, as the captain of our own lives (the ship), be it circumstance or situation, we feel like there is no way out, like we are trapped in our own struggle. With this, we do not want to burden those we care about(the crew) or simply feel that they would be better off in a better life, and so we tend to push them away because we do not want them to suffer with us. These hard decisions are never easy but we often feel them necessary.

Keeping calm, face wearing a mask.

The crew believed my every word,  

They didn't know the truth goes unheard.  

I watched them sail to safety's shore,  

Then turned to face the ocean's roar.
